
Farewell Spit is New Zealand’s longest sand spit and also a huge nature reserve/bird sanctuary with over 90 bird species. There is public access to the base of the spit through Puponga Farm, north of Collingwood.

The Abel Tasman Park is located about 70km west of Nelson and holds some of New Zealand's most beautiful and renowned scenery. There is a walking track which takes 3-5 days connecting Marahau in Tasman Bay with Wainui in Golden Bay. You must arrange with the DOC office in Nelson if you intend to camp or use the track for more than one day.

This is one of New Zealand's iconic markets which has been going for over 30 years, showcasing the best that the Nelson region has to offer in arts, crafts and produce. It is open every Saturday from 8am till 1pm.
